We often throw around Christian jargon like "trusting in God" but I don't think my previous life really required much of this professed trust in God. My life was pretty self-sufficient and kinda standard, I guess.
I realized that trust is tested when there is a lack of something. Like, if there is a lack of communication between you and a significant other for an extended amount of time (for example let's say, one is traveling and has no access to phone/internet for a year), your trust of your significant other is tested.
I think it's similar with God. If we have a lack of job security, our trust in God for His provision is put to the test. If we have a lack of children (barrenness), our trust in God of His goodness is put to the test. If we have a lack of health, our trust in God of His healing and sovereignty is put to the test.
It's crazy that when natural circumstances proved otherwise with King David, he still trusted and hoped in the Lord. When hundreds of people were after him to kill him several times in his life, he hoped in the Lord that He would deliver his life. And God came through... every time. :)
In whatever season you may be or however our world shakes (economically, physically, etc), may our trust in our God be proved to be genuine for He is our Rock who never moves and our God is good always.
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea...
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea...
Psalm 46: 1-2
amen girlfriend!
